*note- this post is not sponsored by stitch fix and i am not affiliated with them in any way. i just really love this company and this idea.**
This was my second month receiving a Stitch Fix box and I have to say that the improvements were visible.
In case you didn't see my post last month, here's a little overview that I shared.
Blurb from the website:
Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. We get your style and size preferences, then send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. No two Fixes are alike. Each one is hand–picked just for you.
And here's how it works.
1.You sign up (using the invitation link shared below) and wait to be accepted. It took a bit for me to be accepted, but I can assure you it it totally worth the wait.
2.You fill out detailed style surveys. You can add notes too. Be specific.
An example of some of the notes I added after the first month's delivery (which was cute but not 100% "me").
*My arms are REALLY long.
*I have had four children and don't love my stomach area in tight clothes. Please don't include super fitting clothes in this are.
*My style icon is Audrey Hepburn.
*I'd buy everything ever made by Kate Spade if I had the money to do so.
And they listen (read).
Check out the note that came with my box this month:
3. You wait to get approved (like I said...the wait is worth it) and schedule your first box.
You pay $20 a month. Whether or not you buy any clothes. It's a "styling fee".
If you choose to buy something in your box, the 20 dollars goes towards that item.
If you buy everything in your box, you get 25% off.
4. You try on everything in your box. Try them with items from your closet.
Try them in your own room, without sharing a tiny dressing room with restless children.
Mull them over.
Each item has a tag with styling photos and information on it.
I didn't photograph those this month, but if you check out last month's post you can see more detailed info on how the garments arrive.
5. Keep the items you want, send all of the others back in a prepaid envelope.
6. Log onto stitchfix.com pay and give specific feedback on each item you received.
Here's what I got this month. When I opened the box I got crazy excited. The colors and patterns were spot on.
Jimmy said "wow...your 'stylist' is awesome". If he likes everything then that's amazing, he's much pickier than I am. :)
Before I show you each item, I want to share some thoughts.
Are these items "cheap"? No. Not in price or in quality. My items in this box were between 40 and 98 dollars.
I am at a point in my life where I am tired of buying things that do not last.
My closet is full of things that were a "good deal" and most of them are falling apart.
I'd rather occasionally pay for a well-made,nice piece. I want some fashionable clothes for when we move to Italy.
And I don't have the time or resources to find them right now.
And that is why this service works for me.
It might not work for you, and that's totally cool. :)
Okay- here are the items.
initial thoughts before trying it on- a. I love this. b. It's totally unlike anything I've ever had.
jimmy's thoughts- pretty, different for you.
thoughts after trying on garment- LOVE. it has pockets, it's flattering.
is good with jeans, leggings, or bare legs. jimmy really liked it on me. i also loved that it's something i NEVER would have picked or found for myself.
status- purchased this one.
initial thoughts before trying on- cute, but i totally have a similar jcrew top.
and i have a hard time finding things to wear it with, so it doesn't get worn often.
jimmy's thoughts-he LOVED this one. he's a sucker for a good button-down. :)
thoughts after trying on garment- turned out being j's 2nd favorite garment, i actually loved it WAY better than i did on the hanger. but it is too similar to my other top and it wouldn't get the use it should
status- put in box to send back.
initial thoughts before trying it on: OMG OMG OMG. Dream shirt. My favorite color, flowy, sleeves can be buttoned up or worn down, I am going to love this.
jimmy's thoughts-he agreed.
thoughts after trying on garment- completely in love. flattering, gorgeous color, soft, versatile. pictures don't do it justice. jimmy said it was his favorite thing i tried on,by far.
status- kept this one.
you can see this one in the dress and blue shirt photos. it's chic and in my price range. LOVED it and it took no thought.
status- kept it.
initial thoughts before trying on- ehhhh. i don't think this is going to look good on me.
jimmy's thoughts- i like this a lot. please try it on!
thoughts after trying on garment- ehhhhhh. not cute enough for what it costs, color not good on me. jimmy-emphatic NO.
