i was SO excited to meet one of my all-time favorite authors last night.
my friend jen and i went out to tybee for a mary kay andrews book signing. we may or may not have been WAY eager and we may or may not have been the second in line. 🙂

see…here's the (slightly dorky) deal. i'd rather meet an author than a hollywood type celebrity ANY day of the week.
mka isn't just a good author to me…she is like a friend. she has given me countless vacations, escapes, laughs, and tears. reading is a passion to me. and when i find an author i love i am very loyal.
so meeting her was a gift. and she was awesome. and hilarious. and we miiiiight have discussed magic mike. don't even ask. 🙂
have a beautiful weekend…and say hey if you get a chance. stephanie needs a DIVERSION this weekend. i need to be entertained.
because time is ticckkkkkkkkkinnnnnng. 🙂
xoxo
Hey Stephanie! Tick-tock goes the clock! 🙂 Cannot wait to see your happy welcome home photos. Reading is a pasion for me too. I love to “escape”. I haven’t read MKA, but I will now. Which is your favorite? What do you recommend?
p.s. Time flies when you’re reading!
Hugs to you dear! Go pack one closet today and you’ll have that much less to do when J arrives 🙂 #easyformetosay
I soooooo totally get your excitement! I have a few authors that I completely love and would be thrilled to meet them. 🙂
🙂
You look positively stunning.
Sometimes it really catches my breath when I see a photo of you and it looks like your girls, I love that 🙂 xx
I see her books but haven’t read them yet. But it sounds like you love them so I will have to try some. Do you recommend any particular books by her? I love books in a beach setting. Elin Hildebrand has great books too, they take place in nantucket. are you moving soon?
I soooo agree! A great author is a GIFT! I have been to THREE book release events for Diana Gabaldon (author of the Outlander series). She, too, is hilarious and always a delight… and sooooo kind to her fans. Love book signings. They’re fun, interesting, stimulating (though not in a Magic Mike kind of way). So happy you had that opportunity! Tick Tock!
I love her! I saw her when she spoke at our local library a few weeks ago. Her books are a great escape!
confession time – I was thinking about getting a bob and seriously trying to remember what celebrity had a bob cut recently so I could show my hairdresser. Then after 5 or so minutes it clicked. You were my celebrity inspiration. Hope that isn’t too stalkerish.
where’s the like button??? LOL!
Here’s a little diversion for you…Magic Mike style. Time for me also ticking…very….slowly…
you should host a crop on your blog over the weekend, like scrap and share layouts and challenges or something?!
I would rather meet an author than a celebrity any day of the week too! for SURE!
that’ so cool you met her!
tara
Ooh! I love her too. I found some of her audiobooks at the library and was hooked!
I too love to read but have not read any of her books. I will definitely try them now! Have a great weekend. Hope it’s not too hot in Sav. It’s miserably hot here!!
I will have to check my local library for her books. I love the photo!!!
Oh countdowns are so exciting!!!
(Dorks of the world unite! I’d rather meet an author too.)
Can you give a brief over view her what type of books she writes?
Totally agree that I’d rather meet an author any day of the week. Mary Kay Andrews is new to me but I’ll definitely check her out. Still working on Gone Girl you recommended before. Love to hear what you’re reading and enjoying. Thanks for sharing.
southern chick lit.

in a very foul-mouthed, yet hilarious manner, my best friend explains why meeting a celebrity isn’t that cool at all in this post:

i would rather meet an author as well. they earned their way to the top and have true talent, regardless of if you like their writing style or not!
Start with Hissy Fit! xoxo
thanks jill! xoxo
We move at the end of July! Start with HIssy fit. xoxo
I wish I could hug your neck, Hanna girl! xoxo
so cool steph! i’ve read a couple of her books and really liked them – i see i better add ‘hissy fit’ to my to-read list though! she looks like such a kind woman too. great photo 🙂
i hope you’re at the market with red meat and beer in your cart VERRRRRRRY soon. (or better yet, i hope it’s already in your fridge!!!)
xo.
You look amazing!!! How exciting for you!! Enjoy the weekend!
I’m a children’s librarian and LOVE meeting authors. My bestie and I call the phenomenon Famous-itis!
Need a diversion myself. Maybe I should read one of her books. Which do you recommend?

You look not a day older than those high school photos you have posted in the past. Seriously. 🙂 How fun that you got to meet a famous author!
I feel EXACTLY the same way about Elin Hilderbrand. She has gotten me through many deployments. And I may or may not have accosted Pat Conroy while he was eating lunch at Slightly North of Broad (SNOB) in Charleston. My husband was mortified.
Oh how fun!! I love MKA’s books. I know she also writes under her real name (or is MKA her real name? Can’t remember). Anyway…I am excited to read the new book!! LOVE the Southern tales!!
I have read five of her books, and they always make me laugh! Is she coming out with a new one? It’s so much fun to meet authors!!
Stephanie, I didn’t know Hissy Fit was a title, and thought you meant hissy fit because you were moving. Then I saw a few posts down that Hissy Fit was a book! lol! I will look for that book for sure! Do you recommend any other authors? We’re going to the at the end of July and we will be there for a month. Lots of beach reading under the umbrella when the kids are in the ocean with dad!
🙂 Tick Tock goes the clock, yay!! One of my dearest friends just moved to the same Post your husband is stationed at. Might you share some suggestions on what she can do in the area with a 3 year old this summer?
HI!!!!!!!! I hope that was diversion enough for you. If not, how’s this for a funny story. I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant with my second child. Went into a store today and this lady looks at my belly and goes “Twins?” I said as calmly as possible “Nope, just one” to which she replies, “Wow” and gives my belly this look. I turn to leave and hear my husband say “What about you? I’m going to guess…triplets?” before walking away and leaving the woman speechless. I probably should feel bad but I don’t. Oh and by the way, the singleton I’m giving birth to in a couple of weeks is a baby girl..and we are naming her Harper 🙂 Have a great weekend.
April, your husband just made my day! Best. Comeback. Ever.
I love her books too! Wish I would have been off.
I saw you and your sweet girls at Target last week. I thought about saying hello, but didn’t want to bother you. You have a beautiful family! Thanks for sharing so much of yourself.
I love her books too! Wishing I wasn’t working that night.

Oh Dear. You witnessed us at Target? Hahahhaha! Lord only knows what you saw. So embarrassing. HEEE! I can’t believe you didn’t say hi!! ;(
I love, love, love MKA!! I’ve read all of her books and hope she’ll write MANY more! I might have stalked a blog that featured MKA’s beach house, which was adorable beyond words.
OMG….so jealous! I love love love MKA! and I love Tybee!
Everyone looked so cute and happy. Nothing embarrassing at all. 🙂
just ordered it! can’t wait! 😉
Love your blog Stephanie. Will drop by again!
Oh Stephanie, you are soooooo lucky to have met her!! She is one of my favorite authors also. I love her books, so does my daughter and my mom. We have all of her books. 🙂
